YOUR MEMORY HAS A SIDEKICK.
Well, that’s
cryptic.
Give your scribbles a secret identity.
Create a personal code. Save the key. Try not to lose the key.
01 / YOUR PERSONAL CODE
Let’s make it mysterious.
No code yet. Create one, or open a backup you already saved.
Your alphabet’s about to go undercover.
Your decoder card
J.C. Studios · Keep this separately from your journal.
Find the character. Write its number. Preserve spaces as their own code.
Write this card ID next to your coded notes. Different cards have different codes. Keep this card safe: there is no online recovery.
Save this decoder before using it. Closing this page clears it. Creating a new code will not decode notes written with an older one.
02 / GIVE IT A GO
A test run.
No secrets, please.
Try “Where are my keys?” or another made-up phrase. Nothing you type here is sent to us.
Create or open a decoder to try it.
The bits worth remembering
How do I come back to the same code?
Download your backup file, then use “Open saved decoder” next time. The file is read on your device. You can also read your printed card directly.
What if I lose it?
We cannot recover it. Keep a backup somewhere you can find, separately from the coded journal. The card and backup reveal your code to anyone who has them.
Which characters work?
Uppercase and lowercase English letters, digits, standard keyboard punctuation and spaces. Capital letters have different codes from lowercase letters. Accented letters, emoji and line breaks are not supported.
Is this a password manager?
No. This is a fun substitution code for your journal, not protection for sensitive information. We do not store your decoder or practice text.
